Appointment Details
We offer a variety of appointment types to help you!
Please read the insurance and private payment section below BEFORE your appointment.
Offering Telehealth Appointments
Many of my clients have high-risk conditions. And I do as well.
While I miss working with clients in-person, I am currently working virtually only at this time.
Working virtually also enables us to easily connect, even if we are farther away from one another!
About Telehealth Appointments
We use the Kalix secure video system (similar to Zoom), which can be readily accessed with your computer or smart phone. Telehealth offers most benefits of an in-person encounter, in the convenience of your own environment. We can help virtually with most focuses, from diabetes technology to nutritional counseling and follow up visits.
What To Expect at Your Appointments
Contact me to schedule your appointment and to discuss additional date/time availability.
Step 1:
Complimentary Call
On this no-cost call, we will review your past experiences, current nutrition, and goals for the future. We will also answer your questions.
If you feel we are a good fit, we will help guide you through the next steps.
Step 2:
Initial Appointment
In this one-hour session, we will take time to know your personalized history, lifestyle and specific goals, both short and long term.
Then we will work with you to develop realistic steps to take toward your goals.
Step 3:
Ongoing Support
We will meet again for follow-up sessions, which are important for your support and accountability.
We will discuss your progress, any challenges to work through, and offer new strategies to reach your goals.
Information About Insurance and Private Payment
It is YOUR responsibility to contact your insurance IN ADVANCE to ask if you have nutritional counseling coverage.
Helpful details when contacting insurance:
- Your insurance can tell you about out-of-pocket costs (if any) BEFORE your appointment, so you don’t get any surprise bills.
- If insurance asks for a “CPT code”, you can provide 97802 & 97803 to check coverage.
- You may be also asked for a “diagnosis code” (ICD-10), you can provide Z71.3. Many plans cover diabetes, high blood pressure/ hypertension, high cholesterol, and higher weight or obesity so you may want to check if your diagnosis is covered.
- After your visit, we will bill your insurance. Once they reply regarding payment details for “patient responsibility”, we will bill your card on file for the balance. You can find your “patient responsibility” on your explanation of benefits statements.
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions after verifying your insurance benefits.
If you have a different insurance or you are privately paying:
- Many insurance plans have “out of network” nutrition counseling benefits to reimburse some of your visit. I recommend contacting your insurance beforehand to find out your coverage.
- Payment is collected at the time of your appointment. Upon request, I am happy to provide you with a superbill so you can submit for reimbursement from your insurance.
- Our packages provide discounted rates and are customized to your individual needs.
